8. Goals for Growth and Success

Almost everyone I know is taking the time to plan for growth and success as the New Year approaches.  This is episode 8 and we are talking about goals today

 (Intro)

I relatively have the same 5 goals every single year but then get specific based on your current year or even the season, because I do quarterly goals too.

Before we go any deeper into this episode I want to talk to those that may be feeling jaded because 2020 was not your year. Pandemic, racial injustice and politics aside. We all have to handle curve balls. Some are literally life and death and others are being annoyed that we can’t travel as freely as before.  It's okay to pivot or circumnavigate and then decide what worth fighting for.

Some things are not in our control.

I want you to take a deep breath in, and when you exhale let the past go.

In my opinion, you only need 3 goals and just like the 3Ps in my Unlock Method, my goals setting has 3Ps too.

Personal, Professional. People.

  1. personal- You can't pour from an empty cup so it starts from within. This 1 gets broken down a little further.

    • body- daily movement may mean taking stairs in your apartment building or mini gym in your basement for workout videos, drink half your weight in water everyday. Yes and no excuses because I was pregnant when I first learned this and still committed to being healthy. so drink the water, plan to pee. And yess i just said that

    • *mind- brain/education/learning/ reading books/ crosswords. Challenge your mind to go beyond the standard.

    • This is the one you are expecting me to *soul- mindset- journaling, spiritual growth, reading my bible, music is my therapy. Nothing against actual therapists. We needs those too, but music can do a lot for the soul

  2. Next P is Professional - do something you love. Do something that give your purpose Do something you want to be known for professional also includes financial- whether you have a 9-5 or you freelance or you are building your empire. we all need money. That number looks different for everyone but we all still have a number that we need to keep a roof over our heads and maintain a good quality of life. X #of dollar to pay off debt, build savings, buy your dream home, donate a million to save the whales, polar bears, end domestic violence, or feed the children, etc

  3. People- focus on family quality time with the people you love, friends are the family you choose. 5 people you spend the most time with are also affecting your personal goals of health and wealth

Notice: I did not say that my goal was to make an impact. I fully believe in doing that but that is so vague that it doesn't count as a goal.

We need to get SMART about them. I have redefined the acronym in a way that makes goals achievable. specific, meaningful, action oriented, rewarding and trackable- earning x dollars or impacting y lives.

Quick break for water and then we will dive into business goals

(sponsorship)

Build a business that works for you. Think of priorities, personality, income goals, create a plan that is actually doable and take consistent action. Don't expect to make a million dollars in the first year unless this is your 10th business venture. And don't let those crazy outliers that said they make six figures in 6 weeks scare you from success because they are the less than 1% and you don't know what she did to get those results, what her previous experience in corporate that set her up for success, if she was consulting or not sleeping, reason you may not repeat exactly what she did. And just to be realistic about what will really work for you and your life.

You can love doing all the things (like me) but you can't sell all the offers, or people will get confused. And a confused mind, won't buy. I combined all of my corporate skills, my passions on personality type, and my planning knowledge into 1 coaching model and whether it's 8 minutes in a podcast or 8 weeks of private  coaching, I am always using the unlock method to help you reach your next level.

Throughout December I’ve been planning for business and I finalized the plan for my 2 core offers to start the new year. While planning is an essential step in reaching success, it's also important to reflect on things that did or did not work in the past

You can use my framework, but the reality is that success means something different to all of us, Here's five things I DID NOT DO while growing my business this year.

  1. I DID NOT let fear stop me from reaching my goals. 2020 was an "unprecedented" year, but I launched my group program, doubled my corporate salary, and even started a podcast 2.5 months ahead of schedule.

  2. I DID NOT try to be someone else. I leaned in to my personality and connected it to my HR background. I embraced my Enneagram 8 qualities and spoke directly and honestly to my ideal clients.

  3. I DID NOT stop talking about my offers because people may get annoyed with me. Business requires selling. It's my duty to share my expertise and the transformation I facilitate. Do you believe in the value of your offer?

  4. I DID NOT waste time obsessing on people making excuses to avoid investing in themselves and their business. I focused on the ones ready to level up instead.

  5. I DID NOT endlessly scroll social media trying to get free motivation and inspiration for my next level. I invested in coaching, made real connections and took control of my personal development.

If you want to bust through a plateau and reach the next level of success in your business, send me a DM on Instagram and tell me which of these 5 things will you commit to NOT doing?  Perhaps you are wondering, so I'm happy to share that I did focus on my success, serving my clients, and adding value to ambitious, multi-passionate women like you. I also continuously offer opportunities for you to work with me.

With that said, I here the best way to work with me and then we will wrap up with best way to stay on track with your goals

(To my ambitious women entrepreneurs-- I’m so excited to announce that the doors to private coaching are now open! Inside this VIP container, I’m going to show you how to reach consistent $5k months without the hustle and grind so you can live your best life. The reason this works for me and has worked for so many of my clients is because of my Unlock Method and because so many multi-passionate women are trying to niche down, they leave out their personality along the way. They don’t realize that when they learn how to structure your business to include your personality, passions AND powerful zone(s) of genius they are able to sell and deliver the impact they were born for. Inside private coaching, we create your clear and actionable roadmap to success with a customized plan for consistent sales. Head to the link in the show notes to apply today.)

Don't compare your chapter 1 to someone else chapter 10 and don't judge people that have not yet started, encourage them to start and to do it scared. No one was perfect on their first day of work in any industry and the ONLY way to get better is to keep showing up day after day.

By listening to this episode you already have potential for improvement

  • Only 3% of people ever write down their goals

  • 45% of those people will ever see goals become a reality

  • You are 65% more likely when you have an accountability partner

  • You are 95% more likely when you have a coach.

Transformation is in the investment of paying for a business mentor, personal trainer, college education etc. because you put skin in the game

I talked about extrinsic motivation in episode #6 and if you are a people pleaser in even the slightest way. Then you don't want to let down the person that is either paying for your progress or standing there to support you. If you aren't driven to do it for yourself, do it for them.

If you are driven to do it for yourself: Make a vision board— you can do a collage on poster or scrapbooking paper, you can make one on canva or pinterest so it is digital and goes with you.

If you want to grow your business with publicity, make a board with the places to be featured, have a plan on how you will get those connections and work your way up the ladder so you can release a New York times best seller or sing the national anthem for the Super bowl. (can you guess which one of those goals is actually on my list btw?)

It's never too late to start. Everyday you wake up is another chance to become 1% better than the person you were yesterday.

I hope this helped you plan your business goals and also create your best life. Thanks for listening and I will catch you on the next episode
